THE HOTEL PLAZA ATHENEE | ||
![]() ![]() Just a few steps from the Champs Elysées in the heart of Paris is the Plaza Athénée, a 5-star Dorchester Group Hotel. Since opening its doors in 1911, this grand hotel has welcomed the Vanderbilts, the Rockefellers, and famous personalities such as Maurice Chevalier, Josephine Baker, Rudolf Valentino, Jackie Kennedy, and Grace Kelly. Christian Dior first set up his couture salon in the Avenue Montaigne for the sole reason that he wanted to be near the Plaza Athénée. After him came Chanel, Nina Ricci, Louis Vuitton and Caron. Today, the Avenue Montaigne has become a byword for luxury and haute couture, and the Plaza Athénée has become a legend. ![]() Now completely refurbished, the Plaza Athénée blends glamorous traditions with modern comforts and technology, its beauty scrupulously preserved and meticulously restored. The garden courtyard or the Cour Jardin is ablaze with flowering vines and geraniums; the antique wood panelling in Le Bar du Plaza Athénée gleams in its luxuriant setting; guest rooms feature the finest fabrics and furnishings, while world-famous master chef Alain Ducasse sends out masterpieces from his kitchen to the equally stunning Restaurant Plaza Athénée. ![]() LocationWith its views of the long lines of chestnut trees planted the length of the Avenue Montaigne and panoramas of the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and the sweep of Paris rooftops, the Hôtel Plaza Athénée is the perfect luxury base. It is located in the heart of Paris fashion, business and tourism. DécorThe hotel has two main design schemes. The first six floors are a perfect example of French taste at its best, with Louis XV, Louis XVI and Regency style furnishings, fabrics recreated from 18th century originals, fine mouldings and decorative fireplaces. It is the only Parisian grand hotel with two Art Deco floors. The seventh and eighth floors play boldly on Art Deco themes and also pay tribute to haute couture with original sketches by the great fashion designers decorating corridors and suites. Guest RoomsThere are 188 entirely refurbished rooms and suites, some with sun-splashed terraces. The rooms' luxurious design is complemented by the most up-to-date amenities. Rooms have Internet and e-mail access via the television, cable channels, a video player, internal TV network, two-line telephones (including a direct line and voicemail), hi-fi/CD player, fax modem, and adjustable air conditioning. Fax machines are available upon request. Marble bathrooms feature separate shower and bath, and the Athénée's brand of amenities. A pillow menu allows guests to choose feather, foam or ergonomic styles. Guests also have their choice of blanket and duvet, and special non-allergenic linens are available. The hotel's staff is at guests' beck and call, ensuring that all needs are accommodated discreetly, from carefully hanging clothes in the wardrobe to special dinner reservations. The Hôtel Plaza Athénée's 44 suites include the 500-square-meter (5,380 sq. ft.) Royal Suite, which overlooks the Avenue Montaigne. In addition, a duplex is available featuring a private fitness room and sauna, as well as a terrace with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. Guest ServicesRoom service (24 hours a day); concierge; fine laundry and dry cleaning; currency exchange, individual safes; secretarial services. Business ServicesThere is a Business Center, which provides guests with Internet access and secretarial services (with computer and fax services). An interpreter and mobile phones are available upon request. DiningWorld-renowned Chef Alain Ducasse oversees the restaurants at The Hôtel Plaza Athénée, and his discriminating touch is evidenced throughout. Ducasse believes in hands-on management at all levels, from organizing the kitchen to creating the menus and assembling the wine list. Everything served to guests has been nurtured to perfection under his vigilant eyes. Use the Search Form below to locate properties in the city of your choice, specifying the name of the hotel (if you know it). Leaving the hotel name blank will return results for all properties in that city depending on the location, this list may be rather long. On the other hand, if you specify the hotel and leave the city blank, you will be presented with all locations of that hotel name (or chain) throughout France or any other country which you may have selected. This latter method is useful, for example, if you wished to find all Mercure Hotels (or any other brand) in the world. For your convenience, all search results will list first those establishments for which we have negotiated special Internet rates. All listings will also show the range of their rates for different rooms and suites, with links to view pictures and particulars for each hotel.
