Maps of French Cities
ViaMichelin provides a convenient method for generating maps of any region in France, and permits one to zoom in to street-level detail. A similar service is offered by Mappy.fr.

Paris Streets
If you know which Métro stop you'll be heading to, RATP provides hundreds of detailed neighborhood maps in color, showing every conceivable street, landmark, public park and body of water. Maps are interactive: clicking on a bus or Métro icon reveals its line number and other practical information.

Paris Transportation
The RATP offers a series of wonderfully detailed colored maps which you can print out, showing all the public transportation routes in Paris, including daytime bus routes, nighttime bus service (Noctambus), the Paris Métro, RER, and RATP-SNCF. In addition, they offer maps detailing which services, routes, and stations are handicapped-accessible (PBS – Personnes à Besoins Spécifiques). All maps are in PDF format and require Acrobat™ Reader, free from Adobe.

AtomFilms France/Benelux
Independent film-makers offer free online screenings of entertaining and cutting-edge short features in all genres: animation, comedy, drama, extreme, thriller, and more. (In the header's search box, enter your choice of topic such as "France", "Paris", etc.) Requires Shockwave plug-in and either RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.

Musique Française Pour le Monde – More Than 100 Radio Stations Live From France
Want to know what's pop in Paris, what's nice in Nice, or if you can hear Cher in Cherbourg? Head to tv-radio.com, where you'll find streaming feeds of music, news, and information from 100 different French radio stations.

The programming is extensive and varied. Browse music by station under "Web Radios" or "Tout Radio France"; or to hear local radio shows, use the map of France at "Toutes les Radios." Click on "Tous les Dom-Tom" to hear French-based radio from Guadeloupe, Guayana, Martinique, New Caledonia, and other exotic locales. And "Programmes Musiceaux" focuses on French groups, soul music, pop music, great singers, and classical favorites.

If online (and downloadable) adventure games, puzzles and brain teasers are your thing, try this excellent French site, featuring QuickTime VR masterpieces such as Locus (from the creative minds of Francis Gorgé and Abdul Alafrez), or travel virtually to Guadeloupe to find hidden treasure. Most files require QuickTime 4.1.2 or higher, and a minimum 5.x version of the Explorer browser.

A resident of the charming seaport of Honfleur in Normandy, Bertrand Brelivet has created a wonderful site (in French & English) where one can view hundreds of scenic and vintage French postcards, with the option for sending many of them – along with a customized message – to your friends and colleagues via e-mail.

Scenes of Paris
FromParis offers a stunningly beautiful collection of scenic vistas which you can use for desktop wallpaper – in six resolutions ranging from 800x600 to 3000x2000 pixels (jpg format) – plus five screensaver packs for both Mac and Windows platforms.

Euro Fonts
Adobe is doing its share to support its customers in the new, global economy by offering three free, downloadable font families for the Euro symbol (in sans-serif, monospace, & serif styles), which are particularly useful for desktop publishing. Each PostScript® Type 1 font comes with regular, bold, italic, and bold italic variations.
