Le Musée de la Monnaie (Coin Museum),

|
The Hôtel des
Monnaies (the Mint) is located in an imposing mansion built in 1777;
it has been ever since Louis the XVI gathered all the state Coin
Services in one spot. The Coin Museum itself was established in 1827,
and displays a fine collection of coins, medals, documents,
engravings and paintings. The Museum also conducts workshops on
minting; on Tuesday and Friday at 2pm you can catch the coin metal
craftsmen at work. Although the mint was moved again to Pessac (near
Bordeaux) in 1973, weights and measures, medals, and limited-edition
coins are still made here.
