Synopsis:
French superstars Gérard Depardieu

sub-poverty-level wages which forced
19th-century French coal miners to

action by a charismatic Marxist. As his
long-suffering wife, Miou-Miou
demonstrates the strength of a woman whose
only concern is feeding her family.
Exquisite in its details and effective in
conveying the claustrophobic darkness of
the era, "Germinal" has much to offer
those who are willing to invest the
time.
